Do you love adventures? I do. If you do, I hope you’ll stay awhile. My life is a constant adventure. I’m not talking about the jump-out-of-an-airplane kind of adventure but it’s pretty close. I’m not interested in jumping out of airplanes these days! I have three little ones ages 7, 5, and 2 and there is enough excitement packed into each of my days with them in tow. We are constantly in search of new adventures whether at home or on the road…we find them everywhere!
I’m surrounded by the usual noises of my home. A toddler screaming “Aargh matey!” as he raises his plastic (but very dangerous) sword! The girls are giggling, followed by whispers, and then a brief silence as they get back to work. I’m at peace though it is not always peaceful here. Such is homelife as I school our kids at home, work, and play. It is not the life I imagined I would be able to enjoy several years back but in a series (un)fortunate events…I landed exactly where I needed to be…where my heart longed to be. Here with my two year old tugging on my leg as he hides under the desk now whispering, “The monster’s coming! Hide Mommy!” and then begins to laugh.
I’m a work-at-home mom! I teach, write, train, speak, and coach. I get to do a lot of these things from home and from time to time, I wander off to spend time with you, and meet you face to face in your homes, places of work, churches, and even at the local Panera Bread as we talk and plan over coffee! I savor those times as well. Thank you for inviting me to venture out and spend time growing and learning with you.
I’m learning to make our space the perfect space for us wherever it may be. By perfect I am not speaking of a magazine cover worthy space with no toys or cords in sight (it’s amazing how there are zero cords visible anywhere in magazine homes). I’m talking about a place that is right for our family to love, grow, and ultimately thrive. I’m not attached to our physical space, but I’m attached to home. It is the place we are building together. It is the place where our love tanks get full.
This blog is a labor of pure love. It is a labor of love because in it I share my heart with you about the things I do at home with my kids as they learn (a mixed approach blended from of all my years in elementary school classrooms and my love of exploration learning), how I ensure they experience enrichment (without being rich), how we manage our struggles, celebrate our victories, keep our faith, and simply do life together. I’m going to literally pour myself out!
My first love is God. My faith in God has kept me together through some very difficult seasons in my life. He blessed me with my biggest fan and supporter, my hubby Marcos. He makes a huge difference in my life and I’m very much in love even after seventeen years (when he asked me to be his sweetheart). We’ve been married for twelve years and I can’t wait to see what other adventures the future holds. I’m surrounded by family and friends I love! You’ll see them sprinkled in all I do.
Not everything on this blog may be for you, but I’m thrilled you made it here!
I hope you’ll stay awhile, look around, and see where we’re headed. It’s a year of growth! Come along and adventure with us!
